What If Kindness is the Answer?

Dear Soul

The other day I was having a conversation about not understanding the world. I do not know how others purposely go out of their way to hurt another soul and show no remorse!! How did we get so off course in life? The very act and idea should be an anathema to humanity! Yet it is not. This makes me sad.

I have often wondered what would happen if no one fired the first bullet or better still what if the government did not feel the need to waste life. Look, I understand bullies in the world need to be held accountable so war and defending yourself has had is place, but I like to dream of what if!! What if we were happy with what we had instead of wanting what our neighbors have? Once again it is “What if.”

What if the only ones who needed to fight in a war were our leaders and we followed the victor? No substitutes and no champion fighters in place of others, the ones who wanted the violence were the ones to fight! I know this is not a perfect solution, but could we source and find better ways to solve our problems? Could this stop war?

What if we released the need for grudges that did not even start in our lifetime? If we had a grudge that was newer, could we let it go?

What if I respected your religion and your ideas could you respect mine? Could this respect mean that we could extend the courtesy of not wanting to reform the other to be the same as me?

What if we celebrated our differences without the need for conformity and oneness? What if we were able to see that variety of life should be celebrated and not be used to frighten us? What if we remembered that differences are the “Spice of Life” that makes life worth living because it adds depth and color to our world? The world would be boring if we were all the same.

What if I was happy being me and I was happy that you were different? What if I could accept the differences between us without having the need for you to conform and become a clone of me!

What if we did not need to have something just because we were told we needed it? What if we put more thought into the value of life instead of working for the greed of another?

What if we were content with life? What if we could let pain go?

What would happen if we were not fed lies of the need to have more? What if we could be happy for others and learn to share? What if we considered less consumerism and making goods that lasted? What if we did not follow the next fad?

I truly wonder why so many want to cheat and steal to create wealth! Wealth need’s purpose and comes with responsibility!

I wonder what is done with the wealth? Do those who crave to have more and more do anything with it beyond the desire to create more or do they sit on it as the mythical dragon? Just keeping the wealth and hoarding it.

I wonder why we do a lot of things! My best guess is that there are a lot of unhappy and discontented souls that seek escape from life or become lost in the need and greed for more and more never satisfied, never having enough.

All this had me thinking and I always thought it would be a grand gesture or something someone else would have to fix. It dawned on me that the answer lies in self-empowerment. It is the willingness to release the need to be a victim of life or pleading for understanding or the driving force we all fall victim to, the need to be right! This had me thinking a little further and I realize the answer to a better world lies in every soul in this world. What if we were governed by kindness? Could this help? Look I know this is nothing new here in this idea for there are “pay it forward” methods or be the change that creates a better world. what if we sought nothing in return and we were all kind for the sake of being kind and creating a better world for all. What if we all had this power?

This is a broken yet beautiful world. What if we all had the way to make it better?

Would being kind be like taking our blinkers off to the corruption in the world? Is showing compassion for our fellow travelers in life a beginning to ending a world of Hate that we live in now??

Look, I do not have all the answers, and I know we have reasons to inflict pain in the name of being righteous but what could the world be if we let go of old hatred and the need to hurt another because we hurt? I mean I am human, so I do understand these motives and I understand we need to stand up to the bully! I just dream of a world where kindness, compassion and empathy are our first responses. A girl can dream!

As you go about your day today maybe release the need to be right and show kindness for another soul. Maybe you become the ripple in the world that starts the trend to a better world for all. The world can be a kinder place, but it all begins with you.

Until next time.

In Love and light

Rebecca

PS

What if we showed kindness?

What if we were happy with what we have?

What if we showed compassion?

What if we did not need to be right all the time?

What if we listened to hear and not to reply?

What if we were okay with who we are and did not need external validation?

What if we were okay in not knowing?

What if we loved instead of hated?

What if we let go of the past in the hope of a new future free from what has come before?

What if provokes a lot of thought of what could be!

What if we used this to create a positive life instead of dwelling in the negative?

This list is endless, and I invite you to think of what if could mean for you!
