Invitation

This is an invitation to experience the fire that lives within you. It is time to spark and to become. This is a time of new beginnings and a chance to move in alignment with the elements of our world. If you are standing at a threshold, like the seasons themselves, this is the time to step through and ignite your spirit. It is finding the courage to be fully yourself and welcoming the wildness within that whispers, “You have a right to life. Come, explore what that means.”

New Beginnings

We have welcomed the calendar New Year of 2026.

We have crossed into Numerology’s Year of the One: Individuation, Independence, and New Beginnings.

We have entered the Chinese New Year of the Fire Horse.

Now, at the equinox, we arrive at Astrology’s New Year: the season of Aries.

Aries screams I AM! — and we ask, who?

Aries does not apologize for beginning.
Aries does not wait to be validated.
Aries acts because life itself is demanding expression.

This is a time of ignition, sparking of spirit. This begins what is to come. To know its impact in your life, look to the moment of your birth captured in the natal chart, find where Aries lives, and ask: where is my I AM statement?

Autumn arrives with the Southern Hemisphere equinox: the trees alive in colours reminiscent of fire, the ground covered in their former glory.

In the North it is Spring. New life bursts through. Riotous colours of flowers grow.

Both these seasons are anchored in an element. The element of Fire.

This leaves us asking “What is the Fire Element?” and what does this mean for me.

Essence of Fire

I am the first breath.
Before form, before understanding, before belonging — there was me.

I am. Period. Full stop.

I shape the will that bends to no one — and compels others to follow.
I seek, but more importantly, I see — igniting faith and hope in what remains unseen.
I expand what is and make it more.

I am the path others follow because I burn brighter than most.
I become the energy, passion, anger — the force that moves life and makes it alive.
My wants, needs, and desires are the raging current that shapes becoming.

I am the sun and the stars.
The hearth that warms the soul.
The candle of devotion lit in darkness.

I am Fire.

I am the courage required to take the first step.
I am annihilation when unrestrained.
I am the spark that first lights your soul.

I have inspired myths of my arrival —
a gift to humankind that cost my benefactor eternal damnation.

I light the path forward.
I urge you toward the path less travelled.

I ignite imagination.
I am creation and destruction —
for destruction clears the ground for growth.
I am scorched earth that makes way for new life.

Self-esteem is born on my watch.
I inspire honour and courage.
I gift hope and faith.

I am the ember waiting to be nursed into flame.
I am the restless force that will not sit still.
And yet, I can dim — flicker — falter — waiting for you to breathe life into me once more.

And yet Fire is not just myth.

It is the first movement in the astrological wheel.
The beginning of becoming.

Element of Fire

I have sat with Astrology for years, wondering about the difference between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and how we associate meaning with seasons.

Spring in one place is Autumn in another.

So I asked myself: what is the common link?

The answer was simple.

It is not the season.
It is the element.

I see Astrology differently. Not as being built on Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. I see it as founded on Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. It is Elemental.

Fire begins the astrological year.

Before growth, there is ignition.
Before embodiment, there is will.

The elements extend beyond astrology. They serve as lenses for understanding life: what is unfolding, what is needed, and what has fallen out of balance.

Personally, I struggle with Fire.

Not because I lack it — we all carry every element — but because Fire is powerful.

One spark can become destruction, and yet in the wild, fire germinates seeds. It clears what no longer serves and makes space for renewal.

So I asked:

What is Fire for?

Fire is the trailblazer.
The initiator.
The animating force that lights spirit and soul.

Alchemically, Fire is hot and dry, expanding, separating, and clarifying.

Fire asks:

Will you begin?

Fire does not ask for permission.

It asks for presence.

Fire is asking you to move. How are you moving in this time of Fire?

Fire is not something to fear. It guides you toward a new beginning. A time to find who you are becoming and be bold enough to chase it.

Will you grant Fire its time in your life?

Journal Prompts: Working With the Element of Fire

  1. Where in my life am I being asked to begin — but hesitating?
  2. What desire have I been dampening for fear of burning too brightly?
  3. When does my Fire become destructive rather than initiating?
  4. What would it look like to honour my will without overpowering others?
  5. Where do I need more courage — and where do I need restraint?
  6. If Fire is the force of becoming, what part of me is ready to ignite?
  7. What ember in me needs tending rather than abandoning?
