Part One Polarity

Dear Soul

Dear Soul, to find true understanding of what Pisces offers we must understand what astrology is and how it helps to guide us in life. We must understand how it was constructed breaking it down into basics of how it was formed.

Astrology can be understood through gaining understanding of who we are through the axiom “as above so below, as within so without” and knowing it is a study of the weaving of time. Our ancestors watched the heavens and then observed what was happening in the world around them. They watched and noted repeating patterns and marked this with the passage of time and placement of planets through astrological charts. We gained understanding through observation of seasonal changes and watching what was happening in the heavens. Over time Archetypal behavior was defined for each of the planets and each sign (The signs are the placement of earth in its yearly rotation around the Sun which was divided into 12 equal parts). The signs and planets encapsulating behaviors, skills, situations, and circumstances. Astrology is its own language but we all can speak it when we understand why and how it was formed.

Language of Astrology — Polarity

The first observation we are looking at is understanding duality of nature. One of the building blocks in astrology is to divide the world into polarities. Two reigning forces that guide life. An example is Day and Night. Day shows expansion and growth; offset by Night contraction receding back into the self. Day and Night naturally invoke understanding of the duality and polarity that abounds around us. In the light it is time to do and in the darkness a time to pause reflecting on what has been and what could be. This is only one example of a polarity and once observed you see the echo in life. There is man and woman, light and dark, action and reaction, exhalation and inhalation, conscious mind and the subconscious, negative and positive charge. In life many pairs are found with symbiotic relationships echoing duality and polarity of life. There is the push to expand followed by the pull to contract. In all things we are a reflection of our outer world, and the world is a clue to who we are.

In the times of our ancestors, old and recent, the polarities were given the description of masculine (doing) and feminine (receptive), but as we usher in a new era, we are gently encouraged to look at this perception in a new light. The need to rename does not change the nature or power of the observation of polarity in the world. The need to move with the times and cater to the world we live in no way diminishes the relevance of understanding the duality of life. We now name the polarity of duality as Yin (inward focused) and Yang (outward expansion). Yin and Yang are ancient concepts that speak of polarity in eastern philosophy. This change allows for clarification taking away any perceived discrimination that occurs with the gender counterparts of masculine (yang) and feminine (Yin).

Having polarity as core principle means each sign around the astrological wheel will be the opposite of the one before and the catalyst for the one after. The signs can be read as the evolution of the individual through life. The signs are woven Yang to Yin and back to Yang the whole way around. Each sign either signals a time for growth and action or a time to pause, reflect and react. This is the first building block we will use in understanding Astrology.

A Time of Pisces

We start in the time of Pisces, a time of seeking inspiration and understanding of the soul in the context of knowing our place in the greater scheme of the universe. A time to explore our inner knowing and getting in touch with our intuition. A time that is ephemeral, etheric, and reverent inspiring spiritual enlightenment. Pisces is a muse inspiring poets and dancers aiding them in expressing un-nameable and unknowable glimpses of life; inspiring understanding rising above the spoken language in case of the dancer. Pisces is the encouragement to be more than our hurts helping us to move forward with more compassion and kindness. A time of forgiveness and understanding as we reach for something higher and more spiritual in nature. It is the time to define our dreams and believe they are possible. It is time to awaken in the dream knowing we are part of a collective and that the actions of one affect all. It is time of the idealistic.

Every light has its shadow including Pisces. This can also be a time to feed the nightmares where we can despair and become lost in the deep waters of confusion and misdirection of not comprehending what is reality and what is the dream. Pisces is a time where reality can be suspended, and we cannot tell the difference between what we desire and what is real. Pisces is a sign that might seek anything that will numb the pain and disillusionment that is also part of life and being human. It can be a time where we become lost and unsure leading us to retreat deeply into the self. Pisces search for spirituality and deeper knowing with the desire to be part of something greater may find us unraveled and unanchored hindering us to everyday life and living.

Yin Polarity in Action

Having discussed polarity and Pisces it is time to see how Pisces is shaped from Yin energy. Yin is drawing us inwards and consolidates rather than the pushing to expand. Yin seeks a response rather than initiating action. Pisces is the Yin reaction to the sign of Aquarius and catalyst that sparks the life of Aries.

The Yin polarity encourages reflection moving us a way from taking action. This is a time to reflect on all aspects of your life while reaching for greater understanding. A time to take a breath and inhale, a time of passivity and digestion. It is a time of assimilation. The time of Pisces honors and reflects and becomes the reaction to all that has come before during the turning of the Astrological wheel. The yin polarity makes Pisces an introverted sign who is quiet and reflective in nature. It seeks deep inner wisdom. During this inner focused season, we get to see what we did well and how we can do better for the next turning. It is a time to rise above humanity and seek the graces of greater understanding. It is a time of spiritual exploration and dissolution of the self in favor of being part of something more. Pisces is a season to embrace meditation. A time releasing the materialistic hold in favor of idealism being part of something greater becoming a part of the collective spirit of the universe.

Pisces is the passive energy that can encourage us to be more receptive to what is happening around us and provides the flexibility to find an inner calmness to sort through our life. Pisces is the time to heed our dreams, listen to our inner world working through what we worship and how we honor our spirituality. A time to explore our intuition and psychic natures.

The need to go inwards to review should never be seen as less than for those who value action over reaction. It should be valued as a time to reset and go deeper into what is happening rather than instigating action for the sheer hell of it. We need time to rest and rejuvenate, to ponder on what we have found in our outer searches into the world. A time to respond to stimuli without it taking over. We often need time and space for acceptance of what was before we can take our next steps into the future. It is in the time of yin energy that we are given space to do this. Yin is a time allowing us to slow by giving us time to breathe and sort our life. It can be a time of forgiveness for self and others.

The Yin nature makes it a time to spark our internal imagination and inviting in dedication to follow our dreams. A time of introversion giving gravity and seriousness to what we dream becoming our ideals and way of life. We all need greater ideals in life to aspire to.

Pisces is a deep and personal season where we let go of the old while we sow seeds for the new life to come. It is time of empathy and understanding the infinite nature of the universe. Dear Soul, it is a good time to meditate, to review your dreams for life. It is a time of compassion and forgiveness and kindness. It is time to explore what the Yin polarity means to you. It is not a time to force action, but it is a time to contemplate and retreat.

Dear Soul, I hope this helps in understanding one part of who Pisces is.

In love and light

Rebecca
